Quick Start Guide

Follow these simple steps to set up your real-time UPI tip alerts in minutes.

1. Desktop Setup (The Backend)

The Desktop application acts as the "brain" of TipsAlert. It receives data from your phone and serves the overlay to OBS.

  • Locate the Files: In your distribution folder, ensure you have TipsAlert.exe and node_sqlite3.node in the same folder.
  • Updating: To update, just replace the old TipsAlert.exe with the new one. Your settings and history will stay safe.
  • Run: Double-click TipsAlert.exe. Click "Run Anyway" if Windows shows a security warning.
  • Dashboard: Open your browser and go to http://localhost:5000 to see your control room and tip history.

2. Android App Setup

The Android app listens for incoming UPI notifications and sends the info to your PC.

  • Install: Download and install the APK on your phone. You may need to temporarily disable Play Protect or enable "Install from Unknown Sources".
  • Enable Notifications (CRITICAL): Ensure notifications are enabled for PhonePe, GPay, or Paytm in your phone settings.
  • Permissions: Open TipsAlert app and grant Notification Access.
  • Privacy: All processing happens locally on your device. Only name and amount reach your PC.

3. Pairing Phone & PC

Connect your devices securely over your local network.

  • Go to the Pairing Screen on your phone.
  • Ensure the QR Code is visible on your PC Dashboard.
  • Scan the QR code using your phone app.
  • Your phone should now show "Connected".

4. Setting up OBS Overlay

  • Copy the Overlay URL from your PC Dashboard.
  • In OBS, add a new Browser Source.
  • Paste the URL. Set width to 1920 and height to 1080.
  • Refresh Cache: Double-click the source and click "Refresh cache of current page" at the bottom. Do this before every stream!

Advanced Feature: Private Tips

Want to send a tip without showing your name on stream?

  • Any tip amount ending in .67 (e.g., ₹10.67, ₹100.67) will automatically be marked as Anonymous.
  • The alert will display as: "Someone sent you anonymous tip".
